Johannes Schmied

Johannes Schmied is a senior advisor at Nord University and a versatile professional (expertise in leadership, management, strategy, and analysis).
Skilled in managing multiple stakeholder processes, he currently serves as working group leader of WG1 (communication and policy engagement) in the EC COST Action on futures-oriented governance of outer space. An expert in black swan preparedness, Johannes has conducted extensive research on large-scale crises and management of unexpected events, worked on the strategic importance of societal safety and security, and coordinating and leading project applications at both national and international levels.
He has served as country general manager for an international reforestation project in 2014-2015, leading a team of 50+ workers, and mentored the Arctic Frontiers Emerging Leaders program in 2024, which spans a network of over 300 professionals. Currently, he is developing a strategy plan for implementing a university excellence system, creating a career platform for highly skilled professionals, and implementing AI courses.
With global work and study experience in Norway, Costa Rica, Austria, Colombia, New Zealand, Japan, and Chile, Johannes is well-equipped to lead complex stakeholder processes and virtual organizations, connected to local Nordic space activities, and serve as an innovator within international entrepreneurship.
